Beaches & Swimming

Sandy shores and sheltered bays on the warm waters of southern Georgian Bay.

Penetanguishene and the surrounding area offer some of the most inviting swimming spots on Georgian Bay. Thanks to its position at the southern end of the bay, the water here tends to be warmer than in the more northerly reaches, making for comfortable swimming from late June through September. The town's sheltered harbour and nearby shorelines provide a mix of sandy beaches, rocky coves, and grassy waterfront parks where families, couples, and solo visitors can enjoy a day by the water.
